We’ve been waiting with bated breath for Nikon to take the wraps off of their first mirrorless camera, and today, we’re finally getting our first glimpse at the new flagship, the Nikon Z9. The Z9 ditches the DSLR form factor in favor of something completely new and unique, and from all accounts, it looks like Nikon may have finally figured out how to give enthusiasts what they want! Following the phenomenal success of their Nikon Z2 camera earlier this year, Nikon has now released the first high-quality professional mirrorless system. Click through to see if you agree with our first impressions of this brand-new camera!
The Nikon Z9 is another addition to the company’s line of pro-level mirrorless cameras. The camera provides similar specs to some of Nikon’s more expensive models like the D850. It can shoot 4K video at 30fps and offers a 20MP backside illuminated sensor with a no anti-aliasing filter for better low light performance. A large EVF and Vari-angle touchscreen allow for easy viewing from any angle, while compatibility with F mount lenses allows you to use your existing gear without having to buy new ones if you already have a kit full of Nikkor glass.
The Nikon Z9 also features 810 shots per charge battery life, but it does not come with any batteries or chargers in the box. Pricing starts at $2,999 for the body only and will be available on September 19th, 2019.
Nikon Z9 price and release date
The Nikon Z9 has a price tag of $3,300 and will be released in November 2019.
To get the most out of your camera body, you should purchase an additional battery for $180 or a high-capacity battery for $350. The high-capacity battery doubles the battery life. If you would like to read more about the camera on YouTube there are hundreds of videos about this particular model on YouTube with detailed information about specs and its features.
Design and handling
The design of the Nikon Z9 is about as minimalist as it gets. The body looks very much like a high-end compact camera, but with some pretty sweet lens flares around the edge to spice things up. It’s not built for flash photography because that would just be weird.
Autofocus and burst shooting
The Nikon Z9 features one of the fastest autofocus systems we have seen on a mirrorless camera. This is perfect for fast-moving subjects as it does not hunt back and forth looking for focus as you shoot your burst. It also produces detailed images with accurate colors when shooting in any lighting condition.
Specs and features
The Nikon Z9 has been released to mixed reviews. Some say it is too small and has many gimmicky features. Others say it is the best camera ever made by Nikon. What will you decide? Read the full review for more information on specs and release date!
- The first thing you notice about the Z9 is its compact size.
- It fits comfortably in your hand, making it easy to carry around all day without getting tired or needing a break.
There are also plenty of ports and connectors, which make it great for studio work as well as traveling. You can charge the battery wirelessly via USB-C, which helps if you’re traveling but don’t have access to an outlet. The Z9 is also able to shoot at up to 20 frames per second with AF-C (continuous autofocus) mode enabled.
Image and video quality
The image quality is excellent with plenty of detail, high dynamic range, and pleasant colors. We noticed a little bit of high-frequency noise but it’s nothing that would likely bother the average user. The camera also supports 1080p video capture at 60fps and 60Mb/s bit rate for smooth footage.
Should I buy the Nikon Z9?
The Nikon Z9 has a lot of great features that should make it a good camera for most people, but the price is quite steep. If you are on the fence about whether or not to buy this camera, I recommend looking at your photo needs before making a decision. Will this camera be enough to meet your needs? Nikon’s impressive list of specs is worth taking into consideration when deciding if this product is right for you.
Buy it if
The Nikon Z2 is not your typical camera. It’s one of the latest versions of their hybrid camera which takes the best of DSLR cameras and applies them to a point-and-shoot body. The body is made from a single piece so there are no seams or cracks where dust can get in. There’s also a display screen on the back that lets you see what you’re shooting before you take the picture.
How does it compare To the Competition?
The Nikon competition is similar to the Fujifilm X-T3, but Fujifilm seems to do a better job at low-light photography. The price of the camera is $3,995.99 which some people might be able to justify spending that much on a camera with all of its features. The only thing this camera is missing from most other ones in its competition is 4K video recording at 60fps for slow-motion shots.
What Are Others Saying?
Nikon has taken this trend one step further with the release of the new Nikon Z8. Though the design may be less than flashy, many reviewers are praising the camera’s performance and they’re not alone. Users are singing the praises of the camera on social media as well. Others are even claiming that it might just be Nikon’s best camera yet!
